After science A Levels in 1975, I studied zoology at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. On graduating, I joined what is now PriceWaterhouse Coopers in London, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1982. I become a tax specialist and started my own practice in 1991. I lectured, conducted seminars and taught students throughout this time.
I had cause to dabble in maths throughout my degree and professional qualifications but I only took it further in 2006, teaching myself A Level in a year. I went on to take a First-class BA in mathematics and I am currently doing postgraduate study in topics of pure mathematics (so I can relate to the delights of being a maths student today!)
I started tutoring maths in 2009 and run this service alongside my accountancy practice.
I am an Associate Member of The Institute of
Mathematics and its Applications, a body which exists to support
the advancement of mathematical knowledge and its applications and
to promote and enhance mathematical culture. I am also a member of
The Mathematical Association, which supports mathematics in
education.
I am married to Elaine, a GP in Buckingham, and
we have two grown children, both educated at local schools. We have
lived in the Brackley/Buckingham area for over 30
years.
